Presentation and History



Alain LeNôtre comes from a famous Parisian family. Thirty years ago, he created the chef's school "Ecole LeNôtre" in Paris, France, one of the world's best retraining school, where he taught for a number of years. He developed the international LeNôtre pastry shop franchise and technical assistance departments, expanding the LeNôtre chains in Japan, Germany and Brazil also helping his parents's business to become the number one caterer in France. After receiving a request for a franchise in the USA, Alain and his wife Marie started their own business in Houston in 1983 with a retail and wholesale bakery. In 1998, they opened an international cooking and baking school, named Alain & Marie LeNôtre Culinary Institute, and began enrroling students. Today, the school welcomes about 350 students. The Culinary Institute LeNôtre is one of two post-secondary schools in Houston, Texas, accredited by the American Culinary Foundation.

Alain LeNôtre,Culinary Institute LeNôtre's chairman, is a Certified Pastry Chef, candy marker and ice cream maker was also trained as a cook at the Grande Vefour, a 3-star Michelin Restaurant in Paris, France. He earned an executive MBA from the Sorbonne and has over 40 years of experience.

Marie LeNôtre is the Director of the Culinary Institute LeNôtre since 1998. Mrs. LeNôtre acquired a Master’s Degree in Public Health Education from the University of Texas and a Master’s Degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Houston. Marie LeNôtre helped create the Culinary Endowment & Scholarship, the "Gaston LeNôtre Scholarship," [2] for underprivileged students who aspire to a culinary career. She was also 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 President of the Houston Texas Chapter Les Dames d’Escoffier, a society of professional women of achievement in the food and beverage industry.

Culinary Institute LeNotre hosts Kris Bistro and Wine Lounge whose, "purpose is to give students the experience of working and serving at a restaurant before they head out into the real world."
Kris Bistro & Wine Lounge is a modern French bistro supporting and showcasing local growers, local artists, French wines and aspiring chefs. Kris Bistro is a collective effort between Mr. Alain LeNôtre and Chef Kristofer Jakob. They envision the restaurant to be a training center for students to build real-time kitchen speed and restaurant organizational skills under experienced Executive Chef Kris Jakob.

Faculty, location and equipment



The Culinary Institute employs French-trained Chefs who have more than 10 years experience in the field.
Culinary Institute LeNôtre has a North (Main) Campus and a South (Facility Expansion) Campus. The North Campus is located at 7070 Allensby, Houston TX 77022 and the South Campus at 3910 North Freeway, Houston TX 77022.

Culinary Institute LeNôtre's North Campus is located in a 28,000 sq.ft. two-story building constructed of reinforced concrete. The first floor houses four Cuisine labs, pantry, the Boutique, an amphitheater and restaurant for a la carte student training, student lounge and faculty offices. The second floor houses two Cuisine kitchen labs with commercial grade equipment in all instructional areas, student locker rooms, student lounge, a conference room and a dining area for students, faculty, and staff to have their food presentation and tasting.

Culinary Institute LeNôtre's South Campus is located in a 10,000 sq, ft. one-story building. This building houses administrative offices, student cafe and five academic classrooms. A conference room, student computer room and study area in the Learning Resource Center.
